Hi friends! It is with much excitement that I present this post (obvi a donut post) on National Donut Day! It's the most wonderful day of the year. I had briefly thought about just eating donuts all day - breakfast, lunch, and dinner - but then I figured that might be excessive so I'll just settle for two or three...
Fun Fact about National Donut Day: It originated in 1983 by the Salvation Army who were celebrating members who had served donuts to soldiers during World War I. Such history. Much tradition.
ANYWAY, I found this recipe last week and knew I had to try it for this special occasion.
Coffee Cake Donuts with Vanilla Glaze
If you couldn't tell from the recipe, these donuts are incredibly easy to make and only take about 30 minutes from start to finish. Seriously easy.
Now, my donuts came out of the oven looking like a HOT MESS. My theory is that I did not mix the topping enough so the butter wasn't fully incorporated and therefore does what butter does best and melted.
However, they smell sooooooo good and are absolutely ~delicious~
I made another slight mistake. Prior to my making the donuts and putting them in the oven, I did not check to see if I had powdered sugar to make dat glaze. Sadly, I did not. While a small ray of light dimmed within me, be assured that these donuts are still sooooooo good, even without the glaze. But pro tip here guys: ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL YOUR INGREDIENTS. Otherwise you will turn into a bitter person like me.

Below are pictures of my donut making extravaganza!
I hope you enjoyed reading as much as I enjoyed making (and eating) these donuts! Til next time!
Happy baking :)
